This cryptic critter, found in the tropical rainforests of South America, boasts a dazzling display of black and white dots across its chest.

But the Potoo's polka dots are more than just fashionable. These spots act as camouflage, helping the Potoo blend seamlessly into tree bark at night. So effective is this disguise, that some believe the Potoo inspired myths of the legendary "Spotty Specter," a spooky creature said to lurk in the shadows of the rainforest.
