Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve Celebrates Knife Day
Every year on Knife Day, we at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve celebrate the history and versatility of one of humanity's oldest tools – the knife. But for us, knives aren't just utensils; they're vital tools for researchers and protectors of cryptids.
A Blade for Every Beast
From the herpetologist carefully extracting a venomous snake from its hiding place to the cryptozoologist hacking through dense foliage to track an elusive creature, knives are essential for researchers. The right blade can be the difference between a successful observation and a dangerous encounter.
The Legend of the Shunka Wakan
Native American folklore tells tales of the Shunka Wakan, a terrifying creature with razor-sharp claws and an insatiable hunger for human flesh. These monstrous dog-like creatures were said to be so dangerous that warriors often carried special knives made from obsidian, a volcanic glass known for its incredible sharpness, to defend themselves.
Knife Safety Tips
* Always store knives in a safe place, out of the reach of children and pets.
* Use the right knife for the job. Don't use a kitchen knife for whittling, for example.
* Keep your knives sharp. A dull knife is more likely to slip and cause injury.
* Always cut away from yourself.
* Never run with a knife.
